Taxco and the Grottos of Cacahuamilpa

Taxco was named one of Mexico’s Magical Towns (Pueblos Mágico) due to the colonial constructions and the surrounding scenery. This beautiful town is nestled on a hillside with winding cobblestone streets, cozy squares and an ambiance that has survived through hundreds of years. Its irregular streets, ascending and descending quickly, are full of white stucco houses topped with red tiled roofs and charming restaurants.

Considered the silver capital of Mexico, the most popular activity in Taxco is shopping for silver items, but the gorgeous weather will allow you do other interesting things. At the center of the town is Plaza de la Borda, where you can admire beautiful examples of Mexican Baroque architecture:
Santa Prisca Cathedral and San Sebastian Church. Other places of note are the
Church of the Ex-monastery of San Bernardino de Siena, the Church of Veracruz, William Spratling Museum and the Museum of Viceregal Art. Don’t forget to take a ride in the cable car that goes up to Monte Taxco Hotel to enjoy an incredible view of the city.

Located two and a half hours from Mexico City and 30 minutes from the Taxco, you will have the chance to visit the famous
Grottos of Cacahuamilpa, one of the Wonders of the World and Nature's gift to Mexico.
